Abstract:

The paper presents the results of a comparative analysis of the financing of preventive measures for reducing workplace injuries, occupational diseases and the number of cases of industrial injuries. In the course of the study, the authors examine the data provided by the Sverdlovsk Regional Office of the Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation. The study proceeds in three stages: 1) analysing workplace injuries, working conditions and industrial safety in Sverdlovsk oblast; 2) analysing the amount of financing of preventive measures for reducing workplace injuries and occupational diseases; 3) comparing the amount of financing of preventive measures for reducing workplace injuries, occupational diseases and the number of cases of industrial injuries. The findings of the research indicate that there is a marked trend towards a decrease in the level of workplace injuries and occupational diseases at enterprises which undertake expenditures on occupational health and safety measures.
