Abstract:

The paper studies network-based business models in the tourist industry. The authors substantiate the objective emergence of networkbased forms of interaction as an integral part of the information age and of high dynamism of the external environment. The article characterizes the main concepts, such as coordination mechanism, network-based interaction and network-based business model. It identifies prerequisites for the emergence of three main types of networks in the tourist-recreational sphere and shows the advantages gained by economic agents when using the network-based coordination mechanism. The authors consider distinct features of the functioning of network-based structures in the tourist-recreational sphere and pay special attention to risk factors. We also formulate and justify the thesis that networkbased dependence of economic agents and specialized enterprises contains three levels, which correspond to the fundamental stages for creating and rendering services. The paper explores interaction mechanisms, limitations and shortcomings of the business models under consideration.
