The Impact of Transnational Corporations on the Russian Food Industry

Abstract. The article investigates the role of transnational corporations and the importance of attracting foreign direct investments for particular industrial sectors of the recipient economy. At the present stage, the Russian Federation is interested in the development of the sectors focused on the production of finished goods since the raw material export­based model of economy does not allow accelerating economic growth to the full extent and realize the national potential of economic development. Russian food industry is of considerable interest to transnational corporations and direct investments. Participation of international business in this sector’s development can become one of the most significant catalysts of economic growth of the industry of the Russian Federation. The research evaluates the influence of foreign direct investments and transnational corporations on Russia’s food industry.
