The Specifics of Corporate Social Responsibility: A Regional Aspect

Abstract. The paper describes the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its topicality at the present stage of socio­economic development of Russia and its regions. The author underlines the role of CSR in all management levels within the frames of both socio­economic activity of a region and at the level of an enterprise. The special attention is paid to the theoretical aspects of the phenomenon of corporate social activity and the necessity for its development in Russia. The importance of making right managerial decisions based on CSR is emphasized. A set of CSR elements defining the management system in the organization is presented. The study of corporate social responsibility of enterprises of Kursk oblast using parametric estimation procedure is carried out. The most scrupulous attention is devoted to CSR in the monetary sector. Just a few industrial enterprises of Kursk oblast provide relevant information about CSR work they put in. In the article the author identifies three aspects that hinder the implementation of CSR principles and reveals the key challenges and ways to overcome them.
