The Role of Creativity in Key Competences of a Manager

Abstract. The article proves the urgency of the issue of building key competences for the majority of corporations in today’s market conditions. It justifies the necessity of a rational combination of knowledge and skills of employees to achieve the defined goals. Particularly, the author considers the concept “competence” and its specifics for corporations. The importance of formulating the key competences during recruitment is emphasized. Approaches to personnel advancement to leadership positions are analyzed and the main errors that can occur depending on different approaches to this process are discovered. The criteria to identify the key competences for corporations are revealed. Such competences as creativity, creative skills and innovative thinking are believed to be of especial relevance. The use of non­standard creative ideas and solutions in the business and management is seen as factor behind corporations’ competitiveness.
