Abstract:

The paper studies the issues of foreign trade between Russia and the USA in the context of restrictions introduced due to a sharp aggravation of the situation in the international arena and unveiling economic sanctions. The hypothesis of the research is that the US foreign trade policy in relation to Russia is selective and differs from policies implemented in other countries until 2017, especially in Europe. The necessity to analyse the development of international and foreign trade relations of Russia and its regions under economic sanctions justifies the topicality of the study. The study of foreign trade relations between the RF and the USA is based on the data from the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation which indicate that there are significant discrepancies between the dynamics of the data and trends in Russia’s foreign trade with other countries, which supports the authors’ hypothesis. The present research is of practical importance, and its results can be useful when devising and implementing the development strategy of foreign trade activities of Russia and its regions.
