Logistic Methods of Analysis and Management of Retailers’ Trade List

Abstract: The author suggests a new method for logistic analysis of a retailer’s trade list. The introduced term “HMD­analysis” reflects the content of the method which is based on the relationship between turnover of commodities and inventory of an enterprise. The definitions and characteristics of the three components of HMD analysis are given. A step­by­step description of the algorithm of a retailer’s trade list analysis with the suggested method is provided. Distribution of commodities into categories in accordance with Spearman’s correlation is suggested. There are given recommendations for managers working for retail enterprises on how to deal with these categories. The directions of inventory management and commodity nomenclature management in retail organizations are highlighted. The application sphere of HMD­analysis is indicated; its effectiveness in comparison with widespread methods of trade list management is proved.
